A Message from the President
THANK YOU FOR YOUR INTEREST in learning more about Think Christianity’s new TELOS Program. After a robust planning and development phase, it is my privilege to announce the launch in 2011 of this contemporary educational journey.
The program inspires and guides young people in the exploration of an integrated Christian understanding of the world, and way of being in the world. Under its care, students gain transformed capacities to form, inform and order their desires, beliefs, thoughts, emotions, words and actions.
At the core of the TELOS Program is a substantial secondary-level curriculum, progressing through the investigation, application and commendation of a Christian worldview. Its content, discussions and activities instil in our students significant knowledge resources and real-world skills.
The educational component is embedded in a broader context of events and social dynamics. This layer of the program enriches and reinforces the foundation of belief formation, by integrating it with identity and character formation. Along the journey, students are invited to participate in the movement of God’s kingdom. This orients them toward an inspired Christian vision (or telos) of human flourishing, which in turn shapes desires and motivates intelligent, productive engagement with contemporary culture. The overall structure uniquely integrates informative content with formative processes, cultivating a rich inner life for outward expression.
We wanted to ensure that the program is available to young people everywhere, so have made it deliverable in a variety of contexts (including an online learning environment with self-paced options). Our partnerships with schools, parents and churches help to achieve distributed access and maximum flexibility.
So the good news is that the TELOS Program is available wherever you are. My hope is that as you learn more about this offering, you will share our excitement for its potential to transform young lives.
I invite you to partner with us in this worthy goal.
Sincerely,
PETER GRICE
President, Think Christianity
TELOS Program Overview
The TELOS Program is a unique Christian development program. Its mission is to educate and inspire young people toward an applied Christian understanding.
This is achieved by fostering intentional belief and character formation, shared community, critical discernment, respectful dialogue and purposeful living.
Uniquely flexible and multi-faceted, the program can be undertaken online and/or in conjunction with schools, churches or parents. With an emphasis on integrity of life and mind, the TELOS Program is a rich, contemporary educational journey.
What is TELOS, now that we need it?
A reflectionon the need for the TELOS Program
by Peter Grice
I vividly recall the day, as a teenager, that I read the first chapter of Mere Christianity by C. S. Lewis.
So provoked was I to contemplation that I couldn't tell you whether I even read any further.
What captured my interest so well was the observation that our language in unguarded moments might reveal our deepest convictions – although we may be reluctant to take ownership of those beliefs. Provocatively, the kinds of matters that surface are the ones we consider most important.
