Our Beginnings - the Formation of ENGAGE
Contact with eminent scholars and philosophers Dr Ravi Zacharias and Dr John Patrick, whose views challenge the increasingly secular and humanistic worldview of our society, brought a fresh perspective to the age old questions: Where are we as a society? Where are we going? What should we become? What can we do about it? How then should we live? How do we achieve unity and peace when there are so many conflicting ideas and religions?
Perhaps the time has arrived for a new Enlightenment. We were led out of the Dark Ages with a proliferation of new ideas and philosophies, however many of these have now culminated in an untenable relativism which has often cast aside absolutes, truth, logic, reason, ethics and morality. God has been rejected as people do what is right in their own eyes.
ENGAGE Australia has been formed to arouse public awareness and involvement in the current social and political systems in order to provide support for the enhancement of moral and ethical values in family, education, business, law enforcement and government arenas.
The ancient Greek philosophers and deep thinkers gathered in public places for forums and debates to circulate viewpoints and promote ideas which could shape their culture and influence their society. They opened up new avenues of thinking or simply brought a balance to extremists.
Similarly, ENGAGE Australia seeks to facilitate discussion groups and public forums where world renowned Christian speakers, philosophers and lecturers can address topical issues and interact with leaders of influence in our society. The dialogue created is intended to address the disturbing cultural trends, in an effort to bring greater harmony into our seemingly fractured society.
